Resin Product Care

Once you've acquired your exquisite new resin board or tray, it's crucial to understand how to maintain it for long-lasting beauty and durability.

Proper board care hinges on recognizing the characteristics of your wood and adopting some basic maintenance guidelines. Rest assured, it's a straightforward process with just a few essential do's and don'ts to keep in mind.

Keep in mind, you can use wax paper under any foods that can cause staining to maintain a beautiful board for years to come!

Do's:

1. DO promptly dry your board after washing it with a warm, lightly soapy towel. Avoid soaking the wood in water, and don't use too much soap, as it can dry out the wood.

2. DO treat the wood with oil, similar to caring for your skin. It requires moisturizing to stay soft and supple. Your wooden board needs oil to retain its strength and vibrancy. Frequent washing can deplete the natural oils, making it susceptible to splitting and warping. To gauge when it needs oil, check the wood's color; dullness indicates it's time for re-oiling. We recommend Walrus Oil, which contains a unique blend of mineral, coconut, vitamin E oils, and beeswax. Additionally, they offer a fantastic Wood Wax for cutting boards to coat and prevent stains on your cherished board.

3. DO occasionally rub a mixture of lemon juice and baking soda or salt onto the wooden part of your board to eliminate stains, disinfect, and deodorize it naturally. Wipe it with warm water afterward and reapply Wood Oil + Wood Wax for optimal conditioning.

DON'Ts:

1. DO NOT use vegetable or olive oils, as they can turn rancid and produce unpleasant odors.

2. DO NOT ever place your board in the dishwasher. Resin boards do not tolerate heat and soaking well. Wood can both absorb and repel water, and excessive water absorption leads to warping, bending, and cracking of cutting boards.

3. DO NOT let the board soak in water. Prolonged soaking can result in warping, bending, or cracking.

The resin section of your board or serving tray requires minimal maintenance, typically only necessitating occasional cleaning with diluted glass cleaner.

For Coasters: Avoid placing hot cups on them, as heat can soften the resin and leave marks.

DO NOT leave any of your resin-coated products outdoors or exposed to direct sunlight for extended periods. UV exposure can cause your beautiful piece to discolor and yellow, even with our UV-resistant resin.

For Wall Art: It's advisable not to hang your art pieces where they'll receive direct sunlight, as UV light can penetrate through windows and cause discoloration. Regular dusting and periodic cleaning with diluted glass cleaner are sufficient to maintain the shine of your piece for years to come.
